Beach Hut Shower and Toilet facilities

As part of the Lagoon proposals the Seafront desperately lacks supporting infrastructure, in particular public toilets and shower facilities.

Integral to the wider landscape proposals a small reflective approach to seaside shelters and the quintessential beach hut has been introduced in the form of bright colours taken from the idea of seaside confectionery. The new toilet and shower facility is a simple timber clad, visually interesting block, providing essential facilities and humour for a day out at the beach.

SKARCHITECTS LTD designed the shower and toilet facilities up to RIBA Stage 3 (Developed Design) and then submitted a successful formal bid to the Coastal Communities Fund in conjunction with Southend on Sea Borough Council. The Local Authority through their property team delivered the project through to completion.
