Clarence Yard, 23-29 Clarence Street, Southend on Sea

21.07.2017

SKARCHITECTS LTD are currently working on redevelopment of Clarence Yard site, a former well known social venue in the centre of Southend.
The building was originally a bakery in the 1800s with the yard used as a loading bay and stabling area for horses. Over the recent years, the building and the original stone courtyard were restored and used as a bar and restaurant known as ‘Clarence Yard’.
The current proposals include the restoration of the front building into a new restaurant with the extended kitchen area, and conversion of the existing storage building at the rear into five new dwelling houses.
The works on the front building are already in progress and due to be completed in Autumn this year. The works on the proposed houses are due to start soon.
